Applying for Apprenticeships

A number of students from previous Year 13 cohorts have started apprenticeships including higher apprenticeships with British Airways, Coca Cola, Honda and KPMG.

This year we are seeing an increasing number of students applying for degree apprenticeship (combining studying for a degree and paid work) including applications to the BBC at Queen Mary University, Cap Gemini at Aston University and Rolls Royce at Derby University.

Applying for Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships are becoming an increasingly viable option for students who are unsure about higher education or keen to develop skills in the workplace. The number of apprenticeships available is expected to rise as organisations are encouraged to recruit more staff using this route. Greenford High School has a range of support for students looking to move on to an apprenticeship after leaving school.

Ealing Connexions

Greenford High School works closely with Ealing Connexions and provides our students with access to an impartial Level 6 Careers Coordinator, Clare Rodway. Clare is available for appointments or drop-ins with Year 12 and 13 students to review future options including a wide variety of apprenticeships. Students are supported in applying for the next stage in their education or training and where relevant helped with arranging visits and interviews.

Apprenticeships Fair

In the summer term of Year 12, students are taken off timetable for two days to explore their future options and attend the Higher Education and Apprenticeships fair at Greenford Hall. This is a brilliant opportunity to meet representatives from universities and apprenticeship providers from across the UK.
