We work to provide all of our students with the skills, aptitudes and strength of character to meet the challenges of life beyond Greenford… we want our students to enjoy their education and to develop into responsible, caring and tolerant citizens"

Colin Horsley, Deputy Head Teacher

Last year was our most successful yet at Post-16. 52% of our Year 13 grades were either A or B, while 75% were A-C. Our ALPs score, the A Level performance system that measures the value we add to students’ results, puts us in the top 8% of Post-16 centres nationally. Every single student at Year 13 who wanted to go to University did so – only 2-3 chose other career paths. Many went to the very best universities to study the most sought-after courses. But we are not complacent and we are always trying to improve.

At Greenford, we have an outstanding and wide-ranging curriculum offer, providing courses that are suitable for all, no matter what your interests. Even Ofsted described our offer as “outstanding” when they inspected the school in February 2009. In recent years the number of courses has grown considerably and our results, in all areas, have improved dramatically. We have established a national reputation for our vocational qualifications and it is not surprising that there is now competition for places, particularly for popular courses such as Business, Science, Maths and Media Studies, and we recommend early application.

The Governors and teachers of the school are particularly proud of our deserved reputation as a caring community. We never forget that we are here for the benefit of the students. The quality of education is always about the quality of staff and, if you join us, you will have the support of two hugely experienced Post 16 Leaders, Mr Jones and Mr Horsley, and an outstanding pastoral teaching and admin team. Indeed, our pastoral system caters for the needs of the individual student and, as a result of our increased popularity, we have been able to appoint more staff in many key areas and extend our provision. With 4 Pastoral Support Workers with a vast amount of experience and no teaching timetables, we have the ability to support you every step of the way. We aim to treat every student as an individual, as an exception and as someone to be valued.

We have high expectations and consequently expect full commitment from all our students. If you work as hard as you can then we have the experience and the ability to guide you to the best possible placement in Higher Education. It is our proud boast that everyone who wishes to go to university can be found a place. Students from recent years are currently studying for degree courses at universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College, UCL, Queen Mary, Royal Holloway, LSE, Warwick, Bristol and Leeds. Our parents give us strong support in this area and this is matched by the enthusiasm of the students and the hard work and commitment of the tutors. Students from our current Year 13 are applying to Oxford and Cambridge Universities for a variety of courses, while medicine and dentistry are popular choices for many of our most able students. In addition to the usual support, these particular students are receiving extra help from a firm who provide a specialist mentoring service.

Of course, results aren’t everything and at Greenford High we provide our Post 16 students with a very wide range of additional opportunities and experiences. So, whether you are into theatre, sport, music, movies, media, debating, charity work or trips abroad there will be something on offer for you.

No written information can give the answer to all your questions, so please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. If you choose us for your Post 16 education, rest assured that you will be well-supported as you join a thriving, vibrant and successful centre. We have a wealth of Post-16 experience at GHS and a long record of proven success to help you achieve your potential.
