From the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we begin to draw towards the end of term, I give my heartfelt thanks to all of our parent and carer community for their efforts in helping our students to be in school as much as possible and to develop their independent learning too.

The holidays give students much needed time to recharge and rest, but it is also a good opportunity for students to undertake some reading - this is especially crucial for Year 7 and 8 as they continue to make the transition from primary school.  Please consider gifting an easy-to-read book as a present, if you share gifts as a family over the festive period.

Likewise, this time of year is often associated with setting new year's resolutions.  Attendance is much improved, but some students could still do much better!  Perhaps you could discuss attendance to school being a resolution for your child if this is a concern.

Once again thank you for all of your support this term.

Mrs M Pye

Headteacher

  • We celebrated anti-bullying week during the week of Monday 10th to Friday 14th November, 2025.
  • Students and staff supported the theme of “power for good” by wearing odd socks to school throughout anti-bullying week.

  • Some students have completed anti-bullying workshops this year with Mr Harvey, where they learn about the impact of bullying and how this affects the victim. Students are also taught about the different types of bullying along with the rules within school and the law regarding bullying.

Laptop provision

  • If your child has a SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) or receives FSM (Free school Meals) and needs a laptop to work from home, we can help.
  • The SEND team is currently distributing laptops to students from Year 7-11.
  • Please alert your child’s form tutor or year team if you require support with a device. We always prioritise Year 11 students first, due to the demands of GCSE courses.

Time Management Workshop:

Last year, Year 9s went on a 3-day residential trip to gain experience of what university life might be like. As part of the Outreach work with St Mary's University and Aim Higher, they continue to work with our students in delivering sessions to get them ready for their GCSEs.

This week in assembly, the current Year 9s will get to put in their application for the residential in June 2026.

Is your child in Year 8, 9 or 10?

Are they interested in studying law?

See below a poster and QR code for our Law Half Term Club, targeted at Year 8 to Year 10 students, occurring over two days in February Half Term. This is a new opportunity we are running as part of our Outreach offering at St Mary's University. The QR code leads to an application form, which is also linked here.

This is a great opportunity for any students who may have an interest in studying Law at university.
