Tuesday 29th September

From the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers,

It was wonderful to showcase our school at our open evening last week. One of the best things about the evening was how mature, friendly and articulate our speakers, tour guides, curriculum helpers and other volunteers were. We also had an absolutely brilliant musical performance from one of our very talented musicians.

What came across strongly during the evening was how much of a community we are here at Greenford.

Thank you for all of your support,

Mrs M Pye

Information Evenings

{item_alt_tag}

Thank you to all the families who joined us for our recent Expectations and Information Evenings! These sessions play a vital role in ensuring our Year 11 and Year 12 cohorts are fully prepared to meet the demands of their GCSE and Post-16 studies. Parents and students received key guidance on establishing effective home revision routines, utilising online digital learning tools, navigating upcoming assessment dates, and accessing targeted pastoral and academic support. If you were unable to attend or would like to review the details again, you can access presentation slides from the sessions on the Greenford High School Expectations & Information Evening page.

Information Evenings for Years 7-10 will be communicated to all parents next week.

A huge thank you to all the prospective families who joined us for our recent Open Evening! The event was a wonderful success, showcasing the vibrant learning environment and outstanding opportunities at Greenford High School. A special note of appreciation goes to our brilliant student tour guides and helpers—they were exceptional ambassadors for our community, demonstrating immense pride, professionalism and enthusiasm as they welcomed guests and led tours. Their leadership and polite, helpful nature truly represented the very best of our school family. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making the evening such a memorable success!

Behaviour Reminders

A Positive Start to the Year

We have been really pleased with the positive start that so many of our students have made this year. Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain high standards of behaviour, uniform and readiness to learn.

A few important reminders for parents and carers:

  • Uniform must be perfect every day. Our Uniform Clarification Document is available on your child’s Form Google Classroom and on the school website. Please use this to check that every item meets our expectations. Repeated uniform infringements may result in a student being placed Out of Circulation or receiving an Internal Exclusion.

  • Please download and regularly check Satchel One. This allows you to see your child’s behaviour and character points. Please celebrate positive points and a strong start at home, as well as discussing any behaviour concerns with your child.

  • A ‘Consequence’ is serious. In lessons, students are given a Chance and then a Choice to correct their behaviour. If you see a Consequence recorded on Satchel One, this means your child has been removed from that lesson. We ask parents to discuss this with their child at home and reinforce the importance of making the right choices in lessons.

  • Students must arrive fully equipped and ready to learn. Equipment is checked by Form Tutors every morning. Having the correct equipment means lessons can begin promptly and students are ready to succeed.

  • Pride in our community matters. Our expectations do not end at the school gates. At the end of the school day, students should make their way straight home, behave respectfully towards our neighbours and represent the school positively. Anti-social behaviour in our local community is not acceptable. We ask parents and carers to reinforce this expectation at home.

We want every student to have a successful year. Please continue to praise the positives, check Satchel One regularly and support us in maintaining consistently high expectations.

Thank you for your continued support.

Anti-Bullying Update

At Greenford High School, we define bullying as “the repetitive, intentional hurting of one person or group by another person or group, where the relationship involves an imbalance of power.” It can be physical, verbal, or psychological, and can happen face-to-face or online.

{item_alt_tag}

What happens if bullying occurs?

In the first instance, students will accrue a level 4 behaviour point and receive a 60-minute detention for any of the following types of bullying to a member of our community:

● Bullying by name-calling.

● Bullying on social media.

● Bullying in relation to homophobia or transphobia.

● Bullying in relation to racism.

● Bullying in relation to sexism or misogyny.

● Bullying physically.

● Bullying in relation to someone's disability.

If a student bullies more than once for any of the reasons stated above, they will receive the following sanctions:

● They will receive an internal exclusion day.

● They will attend a series of anti-bullying workshops.

● They will be involved in a restorative meeting with the victims of bullying.

Following this, if a student is found to be bullying again, they will receive a suspension, and further instances of bullying could result in permanent exclusion.

Who can students go to if they are bullied?

Students are familiar with this visual, reminding them of who they can go to if they are being bullied.

How can you help?

Most importantly, as a parent or carer, you are vital in helping us tackle bullying by helping your child recognise bullying.

Use the bullying temperature check below to help identify any signs of bullying from your child.

If you want more information on how to spot bullying, when to step in, and what advice to give, please visit the Anti-Bullying resource for parents here.

If you have any questions regarding the above, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s pastoral team or myself.
