Friday 23rd October

From the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you for another successful half term. It's hard to believe that when we return it will already be November!

As the days get darker and colder, a reminder to get your children to set their alarms so they continue to arrive on time for school. We all struggle in the winter, but sticking to their normal routine and coming in on time every day, will help them to continue to maximise their success, and also support with wellbeing and mental health.

I wish everyone a great break and thank you all for your support.

Mrs M Pye

Headteacher

Personal Development update

Personal Development Update:
Alongside academic excellence, our highest priority is equipping our students with the resilience, character, and practical life skills they need to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Here is a quick look at what our students have been engaging with this term and what’s coming up:

  • PSHE & RSE Focus: The PSHCE curriculum has been well-planned to ensure that GHS students are equipped with the everyday knowledge they need to thrive in society. So far this half-term, we have had some external workshops: Active Bystander for Year 10/12  and the Breck Foundation for Year 7s – both of which are pivotal in supporting students in the wider world. More details on our PSHCE curriculum can be found on our website.

  • Enrichment & Extracurricular clubs: Our after-school clubs are in full swing! Here is our ECC Timetable 2026 Sep-Oct.pdf and here is our PE ECC Timetable 2026 Sep-Oct.pdf We highly recommend that students join at least one extracurricular club.

  • Trips: We have already had 8 trips so far this school year, including an A-level Geography residential and a special mention to our Year 10 Duke of Edinburgh cohort, who completed their Bronze award last weekend. We have enrolled our latest cohorts of DofE starts, with 1 more Bronze cohort recruited and 2 more Silver cohorts planned for.

How You Can Support at Home Personal development is a partnership between school and home. We encourage you to ask your child about their recent PSHE discussions and encourage them to try a new extracurricular club if they haven't already signed up.

If you have any questions or would like to contribute to our careers program, please feel free to reach out to me on the below.

Student Leadership at Greenford

{item_alt_tag}

Student Leadership: Our newly appointed JLT members have begun their term by brainstorming ideas about how to move our school forward. First on the agenda is supporting our local community by raising money for charity. Next, we are working on re-launching Student Connect – a student-led newspaper where students will share all the wonderful things we do to support both their academic progress and personal health and well being.

Safeguarding and VAWG Survey

Your feedback plays a vital role in keeping our local community safe. We are encouraging all parents, carers, staff, and students to participate in a short survey regarding Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).

By sharing your views and experiences, you help us directly address local safety concerns. The results from this survey will assist in:

  • Directing local police patrols to the areas where they are needed most.

  • Identifying concerning behaviors and safety issues within the community.

  • Improving environmental factors (such as lighting and venue safety) that impact how safe people feel.

  • Collaborating with local partners to create effective, long-term safety initiatives.

Please take a few minutes to complete and share the survey using the link below:
