From the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers,

It's hard to believe we are now in December, coming to the end of term in just under 2 weeks. We have had an excellent term, and your children have been an absolute credit to you. As usual, there has been a huge amount going on, and I encourage you to flick through our end of term edition of 'Community Connect' which will come out in the next couple of weeks, full of images showing what we've been up to.

Our end of term arrangements can be seen in the section below.  The arrangements are in line with previous years, but please do take a moment to look at them.

Finally, we have a job advert out for a Parental Ambassador which may be of interest to some parents / carers. Please see our website here for further details, along with other roles we are advertising.

Mrs Pye

Well-Being Talks

As you know, every Thursday on a Week A we have PSHCE. Last week saw the whole of Year 10 having visits from 2 different people to talk to them about how to look after their mental well-being and how to make sure they are looking after themselves physically too. A huge thank you to both the PSHCE and Year 10 Teams for organising these visits and a big thank you to the whole of Year 10 for being so brilliant on the day.

Safer Schools Officer visit - We were also lucky enough to have PC Hodgson, our attached police officer, come to talk to Year 11 students about being healthy relationships and discussing the issue of violence against women and girls, a key topic that the Met are focusing on at the moment. Thank you, PC Hodgson!

Chess news - On Monday 20th November, GHS hosted a qualifying event for the English Chess Federation’s National Schools Chess Championship, which sees over 300 schools competing across the country. Two of our 3 Greenford teams got through to the next stage - congratulations!

Supporting with Teenage Mental Health

Our Mental Health Lead, Ms Adhami, sent out some resources to staff at GHS this week about how to support our young people with their mental health.

We thought it would be good to share these excellent resources with our parents and carers too. Please visit Stem4 on Stem4.org.uk to look at how best we can support our children.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us too, if you would like any further support or guidance.

Competition Time!

Descendants Charity, based in Acton, are running a design a t-shirt competition, open to all students. The winning designs, one from each school phase, will feature in the charity's updated book to mark its 30th anniversary. The book will be sent to all schools in Ealing once completed.

If you fancy taking part, check out the charity's website at www.descendants.org.uk.

End of Term Arrangements

In line with previous years, Post 16 students will finish school on Wednesday 20th December. Year 11 students will also finish on Wednesday 20th December 2023. This is recognition of their outstanding efforts and behaviour in their recent mock examinations.
