From the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers,

It's been lovely to have some sunshine and things in school continue to be bright aswell!

Year 11 and Year 13 are now firmly in the midst of exam season and we are supporting them with lots of sessions and positive thinking, the most important thing. Alongside this, there are plenty of other things going on including various trips by the Geography and Drama departments, a PSHCE talk 'Chelsea's Choice' for Year 9 and various academic and careers based trips for Year 12.

Cricket season is also in full swing now that the rain is holding off and we wish all of our players a very good season, inspired, no doubt by our very own Samarjeet Singh in Year 12, who is achieving great things with Middlesex.

Mrs Pye

And, so they start...  In our last Parent Connect, we gave some top tips from Heads of Department about preparing for the summer exams. They started today! And, here is Year 11 just about to go into the first one, RE. Please see below for more information from Mr Bush, our Assistant Headteacher who oversees exams.

As you’ll be well aware, the Y11 GCSE and Y13 A Level public exams are underway and we’re pleased to report that we’ve been very impressed with the students’ attitude so far. Please encourage your son / daughter to continue to work hard over these crucial, final weeks.

Most of their revision will take place at home during this exam period and students have received information and advice about what to revise and how to do this effectively from their teachers. They should have a put together a personalised revision timetable to organise their time which you may wish to monitor with them.

It’s also vital that they attend all exams on time so please refer to the email you will have received with their exam timetable to make sure they know the dates and times. Students should aim to be outside the exam venue, with all the equipment they need, by 8:30am for morning exams and by 1pm for afternoon exams – your help with this will be greatly appreciated.

We’re hopeful that they will perform to the very best of their ability – they have been fully prepared and now it’s their time to shine!

Southall Resists

Last month, a group of students from Greenford High School took part in an exhibition at Villiers High School around the topic of Southall Resists. The director of Southall Community Alliance said the following about the project and those who took part:

"Our work has involved visiting schools in Southall to talk about the way in which our communities resisted racism in the 1970's onwards and many schools produced art works based on this history. The art works were all on show yesterday and enjoyed by hundreds of Southall school children. Many thanks to all the fantastic schools and children who attended yesterday."

Many thanks to all of the staff and students from Greenford High School who took part in the project!
