From the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week we ran our annual open evening. Thank you to parents and carers who have younger children at primary schools who attended. Thank you also to all of our wonderful students who supported us during the evening, acting as tour guides, helping in departments, undertaking musical performances and delivering speeches. It is evenings like this that remind me of what a wonderful community we serve and how proud I am of each and every student here at Greenford High School.

We return to normal school on Monday 7th October after our INSET day today.

Well done and thank you to the MFL department and for making the EuDoL (European Day of Languages) a success. The feedback from the students and their engagement with the external speaker, Steve Eadon, has been remarkable.

Well done to Ms Geagea and the MFL Team!

Pride in our community: Behaviour

At Greenford High School, we would like our students to take pride in behaving in a manner that embraces our character values: responsibility, resilience, compassion, courage and community. When students take part in actions that embrace these values, we will reward students through character points, postcards, positive phone calls home, year team reward afternoons, pizza parties and reward trips.

At the start of this school year, we have given our students five messages that they must embody in our school community to learn and be successful. If you could support these messages at home, we would be really grateful.

  1. Uniform
  • Blazers, ties and schools shoes should always be worn.
  • Shirts should be tucked in.
  • Our full uniform policy is on p.39 of your child’s planner.

  1. Punctuality
  • Students should always aim to arrive at school for 08:20.
  • During school, students are always able to hear a movement bell and a start of lesson bell. Students should always move to lessons when they hear the first bell.

  1. Staying in lessons
  • We want our students to remain in lessons so that they can experience a lesson with the entire learning journey.
  • For this reason, we encourage students to use the toilet at break/lunch. Of course, if there is a genuine need to go, we will always allow a student to use the bathroom.

  1. Respect to all
  • We want our students to treat others the way they would like to be treated.
  • Everyone in our school community should be addressed with respect including student peers and our staff.

  1. Prosocial behaviour
  • Our students, particularly at break and lunch, should be calm, orderly, helpful and comply with our instructions to be safe.
  • In our school community, we walk and ‘do not run’.

Thank you so much for reading.
