From the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we approach half term, I wish you all the best in having some quality family time together. I also remind you that Year 11 and Year 13 should be using this time to really get serious about their revision!  Please ask you child to:

1) Draw up a revision timetable for the week,

2) Dedicate some revision time to all of their subjects,

3) Attempt some past exam papers.

Thank you, as ever, for all of your support.

Mrs M Pye

Reading at Greenford

Every member of staff and all students automatically become a member of the school library when they join GHS. Students in Years 7-11 will be given a library barcode, while Post 16 students use their ID as a library card. Our library system is called Accessit, and students can login to this via the library page on the school website and VLE. From there they can search for, and reserve books, and they can also monitor what books they have on loan. If you receive an email about your child having an overdue library book, please can you check this with them as we currently have a number of pupils with overdue books which are popular and have been reserved by other students. We don’t charge fines, but lost books must be paid for.

We also have an excellent eBook library. All students will have been sent their login for this, but they can always email ghslib@greenford.ealing.sch.uk if they are unsure of this. The best part about the eBook library is that once the due date is up, they are automatically returned, so no need to worry about overdue books!

A privilege to belong to the Greenford Community

Our school has transformed over many years, from the very old building to the campus-style buildings to i-block and now our new conservatory to the canteen. Sometimes, we can forget how lucky we are to have such amazing facilities.

At Greenford High School, we take great pride in our school and are so fortunate to have wonderful opportunities. The pictures below are a reminder of what facilities our students have available:

MUGAS (Multi-Use Games Area) :  This is where PE lessons take place and where students get to play during break and lunch

Lecture Theatre: This is where lectures, workshops and celebrations take place

Classrooms: This is where students' learning takes place in a calm and purposeful atmosphere

The conservatory: our latest addition, where students can eat their food and socialise.

Year 11 Careers Fair

Well done to Mr Halsey and Ms Rodway for organising the Year 11 Careers fair last week, where students had those important conversations with potential employers, colleges and former students. They were supported by the Year 11 Pastoral team- a great event that will help our students prepare for their future.

Coffee Mornings

To support our families and students, we like to host coffee mornings so that parents, students and staff can connect and find all the tools they need to be part of the Greenford Community.

This week we hosted another coffee morning....if you would like to be involved, keep an eye out on the Parent Connect and your emails.

Somali Coffee Morning

We would like to thank all the Somali community for attending our Somali coffee morning last week. There was such a lovely atmosphere, and we came together for a cuppa and delicious food.

A huge thank you to Mr Mohamed and our parent ambassadors for organising the event, as well as Ms Adhami for delivering a workshop on mental health and how we can support both families and children during challenging times.

Year 9 and 10 Workshop Hosted By Enlighten Education

Last week, year 9 took part in a workshop that showed them how they can use actions and story telling for revision. They learnt and remembered how to count from 1-10 in Japanese as well as know the countries of the EU in alphabetical order!

Students learnt how important it is to take breaks when revising and the impact of taking action can have on their success.

Thank you to St Mary's university who supported this event as well as all the staff and students who participated so positively.

Year 7 Girls Football

A message from Ms Rayner and Ms Juster:

I just wanted to share the fantastic performance from our Year 7 girls' football team on Wednesday afternoon. The U12 girls faced a tough and physically strong Ada Lovelace side, and although they were 5-0 down at halftime, they showed incredible determination. After making a few adjustments, they fought back in the second half, drawing 1-1. Their resilience and team spirit were outstanding, and they should be really proud of their efforts. Well done, ladies!
