SMSC at Greenford High School
Greenford High School is dedicated to developing the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural (SMSC) development of our students. At KS3, some PSHCE lessons have focused on the importance of friendships, helping students to develop strong interpersonal skills and an understanding of positive relationships, while assemblies have reinforced key messages about social responsibility, such as taking care of the environment by reducing litter.
In Year 8, students have explored moral dilemmas such as war and capital punishment in Religious Education, while Year 10 students have been learning about medical ethics, enabling them to develop their thinking surrounding complex moral issues. Cultural education has continued with students learning about different religious festivals in RE and attending museum and theatre trips. Still to come is our International Day, which provides an opportunity for students to share and appreciate the diversity of backgrounds shared by our staff and student body.
Spiritual development is a key priority. Students have been learning about how religious people practice their faith, including the significance of prayer and personal relationship with God. They have also explored various religious festivals, gaining a deeper appreciation of the beliefs and customs of different communities.
As a school, we continue to support students' SMSC growth, ensuring they leave school as responsible, informed, and respectful individuals ready to contribute positively to society.
