From the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are thrilled to have been awarded recognition from the SSAT for our outstanding examination results again, and you can read more about this in the section below.

We are now about to enter our final half term of the year and look forward to celebrating lots of achievements from all of our students.

We have made some amendments to 2 of our policies - Child Protection and Safeguarding and our Anti-Racism policy which both outline what our internal protocol is regarding contacting parents if various external agencies arrive unexpectedly at the school. Both policies are available to read on our website.

Finally, if you are planning ahead, please note that we have published our 2026-2027 term dates which you can see below.

With my thanks for your ongoing support,

Mrs M Pye

Headteacher

Ambition for our students

At GHS we are very ambitious for our students. We want our students to achieve outstanding results at the end of Y11 and Y13. We also have ambitions for all our students to go into university or apprenticeships at the end of Y13. This year we have had over 30 applications to Oxford or Cambridge university as well as 20 applications for competitive Medicine and Dentistry courses.

We want all of our young people to secure the qualifications and skills to be able to lead financially and emotionally secure lives in the future.

We try to ensure that all of our students make very good progress whilst they are here with us.

Ambition for us at GHS means that students:

  • Develop key skills through the learning process, such as problem-solving, good communication and teamwork. We do this through planning and delivering lessons, which means that students use their knowledge and skills to work through problems.
  • We support our students with a personal development programme that gives them experience of university through our Aim Higher programme, the students get to visit universities in Y10 and, we have Careers fairs where students can talk to representatives from different industries/companies about what they do and what the entrance requirements might be.
  • We also support our students through the development of skills as part of our enrichment programme. We have an array of clubs which allow students to develop their leadership and team working skills.

How you can support your child:

  1. Be ambitious for your child - talk to them about their future career aspirations.
  2. Make sure that you have high expectations of them.
  3. Discuss every interim report with them in detail:
    1. Look at the attendance.
    2. Look at the attitude to learning for each subject, challenge any concerns (these are highlighted in amber or red).
    3. Set attainment grade targets with them so that they are always making progress from one interim to the next.
  4. Make homework a priority - this is a key part of their learning, and this will enable them to achieve better grades.
  5. Encourage them to partake in at least one club every year.

SSAT (The Schools, Students and Teachers Network Award)

We are delighted that our excellent outcomes have been recognised by the SSAT in this year’s Educational Outcomes Awards. The award recognises Greenford High School is among the highest performing secondary schools in the country, based on performance data and information from Ofsted in 2024.

GHS was recognised for being in the top 20% of non-selective schools nationally for student attainment in the '2024 end of KS4 exams'.
