Enrichment

Post 16 education is not just about academic studies but also includes a wide variety of activities enabling each individual to develop their personality and as a Sixth Form centre we are committed to:

"Working to provide all of our students with the skills, aptitudes and strength of character to meet the challenges of life beyond Greenford… we want our students to enjoy their education and to develop into responsible, caring and tolerant citizens"

Mr Dudman-Jones, Head of Post 16

So if you join Greenford’s Post 16 we would expect you to participate in some of the opportunities on offer:

  • Mentoring through our subject and literacy support programme
  • Develop your confidence and creativity through performances of all kinds; drama and music being the most popular
  • Spend the summer exploring the UK's top Universities through the Sutton Trust Summer School programme, London University taster courses or LSE choices programme
  • Become a member of some of the UK's most prestigious societies by joining The Royal Geographical Society or The Royal Institution of Great Britain
  • Continue to develop or learn to develop your love for sports from football to badminton, tennis to basketball
  • Join the school’s long established a highly regarded Debating Club enabling you to hone your presentation and communication skills
  • Follow the English department and others on their various outings to the sights of London from Theatre and TV to University talks and art galleries
  • Participate in the school’s prestigious dining club
  • Work on obtaining your Duke of Edinburgh Award or simply volunteer with one of our community based projects
  • Undertake work shadowing or work experience
  • Join our student advocate programme as a budding lawyer or our Junior Leadership programme as a budding politician
  • Or alternatively start a new club or enrichment activity – we are always open to new ideas

At Greenford High School we understand the importance of offering students opportunities to develop character and skills beyond their chosen curriculum subjects. We therefore encourage all students to participate in as many enrichment activities as is possible.

Students can currently participate in:

  • Debating competitions as part of the Debate club
  • Drama and music through our own whole school performances
  • Engineering and Go Kart building through our STEM club
  • A variety of different sports through our PE department
  • In lesson study support
  • Peer to peer tutoring
  • Journalism through the school magazine
  • Yoga classes
  • Attending lectures at the Royal institution, the LSE and Gresham College
  • A number of successful summer schools in the UK
  • Business enterprise groups

There is no exhaustive list and we encourage students to set up their own clubs and societies depending on their interests. As such we now have a popular Art club, a very popular Med Soc and an expanding Economics society but please bring your own interests with you and we will hopefully be able to support you in establishing your own club or society.
